For centuries, Memorbücher, memory books, have been documenting the deaths and murders of Jews as well as of obliterated Jewish communities. With this virtual Memorbuch the Institute for Jewish History in Austria honours the Jewish community of St. Pölten which was annihilated during the time of National Socialism. 

There is information on the history of St. Pölten’s Jewish Religious Community, its institutions – cemeteries, synagogues, associations – and its members. You can also gain information on the projects and activities in commemoration of this once flourishing community.

We have contacted former St. Pölten Jews and their descendants to receive information, photos and documents. If you would like to contribute to this website or share your thoughts please contact us – we are happy to hear from you.
